Create Link in WordPress

This tutorial will show you how to make a link in WordPress content management system.

The end result will be something like this: My Sample Link

Login into your WordPress Dashboard.

Go into the post or page that you want to create a link in.

Type in the link text that you want to show. In this case I am using the text ‘Sample Link’.

Highlight the text.

With the text still highlighted, click the Link Button as shown in the screenshot.

Enter the FULL website address in the ‘link/URL’ field. Note, the best way to get the full address is to go to the website in your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox etc), and then copy and paste the website address from the browser address bar.

If you want the link to open in a new window, select ‘open in new window’ from the ‘Target’ drop down menu.

Enter Full Link Address and Target Drop Down Menu

Enter Full Link Address and Target Drop Down Menu

You can leave the other options set to their default setting.

Click the ‘Insert’ button.

That’s it! You should now have a link that looks something like this: Sample Link
