How to Add New Images to Nextgen Gallery
This tutorial will show you how to add images to a Nextgen Gallery that has already been created.
Before you start, make sure your images are cropped, resized and ready to go. Remember where you have saved the images because you will need to know this for later.
Ideally you want your images under 50-70kb each and around 400-500 pixels wide. Here is a tool than can automatically resize and optimze jpg images in bulk: Resize jpgs Tool. Or you can just resize in Photoshop or another photo editing program.
Now, to add the images to your gallery…
Login to your WordPress dashboard
Click on ‘Gallery’ at the bottom of the left side navigation menu.
Click on ‘Add Gallery/Images’
Up the top you will see some tabs. Click the right hand side tab, ‘Upload Images’
Click the white ‘Browse’ button. This opens up a browsing window where you will choose the images you want to upload from your computer.
Navigate in the browsing window to the location you saved your images.
Select the images you want to upload. You can select more than 1 image by holding the ctrl key and clicking on multiple images.
Once you have selected all the images you want to upload, click the ‘Open Button’. This will bring up a list of images you have selected.
In the in ‘Choose Gallery’ dropdown menu, choose the gallery you want to add images to.
Click the Upload Images button to commence the upload.
Be patient!! It may take a few minutes for the images to upload. You will see a progress bar up the very top of the screen.
Once you have uploaded the new images you can follow the Edit Gallery Details tutorial to change the details.
